Explorer Crashes When Viewing .mkv files (thumbnails)
location:
7forums.com - date:
March 23, 2011
This problem has bugged me for a few weeks now and I can't seem to find a solution. When I open the folder, some folders' thumbnails load quickly while others don't at all or only a fewfiles (when i look inside a particular folder). The green 'loading bar" in the filepath bar stops moving and explorer.exe crashes and restarts. This only happens with the .mkv files, I've never had a problem with .avi or other formats. Below you'll find what Event Viewer had to say about the error.

Disable task scheduler security when author password changes?
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
January 21, 2013
I'm not a system admin, I just need to resolve this issue. And I cannot reproduce the error because I cannot create a user.
There are about 20 tasks that were created by UserA with password 'XX'. Apparently, if UserA changes the password, then none of the tasks run, and they have to go into each task, one by one, and retype the password.
Is there any way to disable or automatically update the password?
I also noticed in the task configuration, there's a "when running the task, use the following user account" that specifies the user. Is it possible to disable that so it's not tied to a specific user?
Thanks.

windows 8 desktop slideshow changes too often - even when set to "1 day"
location:
microsoft.com - date:
February 19, 2013
I've been googling and binging and can't seem to find an answer, nor anyone else having a problem with this. So maybe I'm special, lol.
Windows 8 seems to operate the desktop slideshow quite differently to Windows 7.
I set my desktop background to change once per day. With Windows 7 it would change less than once per day - it seemed to change after about 24 hours of the PC being awake. And because my laptop is off or sleeping much of the time, that would end up being
once every 3 days or so.
With Windows 8 on the same setting - 1 day between changes - it changes the background every time I wake up the computer. Since I'm moving around most days and my laptop goes from sleeping in my bag to being used in all sorts of place

Windows 8 lags/crashes when running flash on Google Chrome
location:
microsoft.com - date:
February 23, 2013
It had happened to me 3 times since I first bought this new laptop one week ago. Of all the three times, these are some of the similarities that I observed:
1. I was running a Youtube video on Google Chrome browser.
2. I'm using Microsoft Wireless Desktop (mouse and keyboard) 800.
3. The lag is triggered when I move my cursor into any of the four corners of the screen.
4. Everything will become unresponsive for a minute or so, then it will resume like normal.
5. The problem will still occur again everytime the cursor is pointed to any of the corners, will only resolve via restarting the device.
Can Microsoft please look into this issue? Or is there anyone out there with a solution to this?
Thank you.

Screen resolution stuck at 1024x768 when my screen is native 1280x800... anyone know any tricks to getting the native resolution back?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
November 6, 2012
I just upgraded my 4-5 year old laptop to Windows 8 from Vista. The native screen resolution is 1280x800. I was informed that I wouldn't be able to "snap" apps with Windows 8 because of that, which is fine, but I didn't expect W8 to trap my computer at
a 1024x768 resolution with no other display options. Everything is squished and flattened and extremely annoying. Nothing I've tried has worked to fix this issue.
