I recently did a system upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8, all the drivers are properly updated and everything is working fine, but once i try to install the updates it doesn't work, i can select the updates i want, click install, and no matter how much
time i leave the laptop on, it always shows "0 KB total, 0% completed" What do i do to be able to install the updates?
My laptop is an HP Pavilion G6 and i'm using Windows 8 64-bits.

Windows hangs While Installing Updates
location:
7forums.com - date:
December 15, 2011
Hi,
Last night I received a message that Windows needed to download updates. There were seven of them, so I clicked on install. After downloading it said it had to restart to complete the installation. I then got the screen saying "Configuring Windows. Do Not Turn Off Your Computer." The little circle kept spinning for about a half hour. I saw that the HD light didn't come on at all, so I assumed it had locked up. I had to press and hold the power button to get it to reboot, and after telling me Windows did not shut down normally, it started up and appeared to complete the update installation.
I checked the Update History and most of the updates said "Successful" but a few said "Pending".
I have had this lock

I recently installed windows 8 on my PC at home and everything was working fine. I had access to the internet through my wifi card I had installed. After updating the computer though using windows update my wifi card is no longer working and I can't connect
to the internet anymore. I then restored windows to a previous point before the update and it started working again and again I downloaded those updates and again the same problem occured. How do I solve this?

Installing updates hangs at 13%
location:
microsoft.com - date:

I managed to solve this I think. My daughter has a HP ENVY sleekbook. I restarted the machine pressing esc to enter rescue options and this gave some windows 8 options for a restore. I chose to restore and keep files. Then when it eventually restarted
(10 mins or so of cleaning up) I turned off windows update and set about installing the new BIOS (even though HP say do this before Windows 8 installation). Now I am installing all of the driver updates. Fingers crossed everything will be fine now.

Windows 7 hung while installing updates
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
November 16, 2012
I was installing a large number of Windows 7 updates, doing this a few updates at a time. Everything seemed to go well, until I got the last message to reboot. When Windows rebooted, it showed that it was installing three updates, but it never progressed beyond the screen announcing that the the first update was being installed.

I waited hours, but it became clear that the update process was hung, so I eventually powered the system off. When I restarted I got a message that Windows had not shut down properly, but I let it go through a normal startup nonetheless.

I am not able to recognize any problems resulting from the abnormal install

Install stuck on "Installing Updates".
location:
7forums.com - date:
November 25, 2009
Hello!
I'm trying to install Windows 7 retail with no luck.
I've been installing it many times before, from beta to rtm with no problem whatsoever, it's an excellent OS!
But now it just won't work, it gets stuck on "installing updates" or "installing features", mostly the first.
I have tryed with the dvd and a bootable usb, same thing.
I am using the following hardware:
Asus P6T Deluxe
Intel i7 920
Corsair Dominator 3x2Gb
AMD HD4850
OCZ Vertex SSD (for the OS)
Samsung F1 1Tb (for storage)
Questings and answers:
• Do you have a single OS on your computer, are you planning on multi-booting with this installation?
I'm doing a clean install, I have no OS on my computer now.
• Are you multi-booting
