But now I get a message saying device not recognised due to malfunction of device. And in device manager I'm told that it's an error 43 code. I'd be grateful for any advice; also, should I try buying a new memory stick/flashdrive exclusively for the pc? I've tied uninstalling the device and restarting the computer, but to no avail

Thanks a ton; powering down and unplugging my Dell Studio XPS desktop worked – next step would have been to reinstall Windows 7. The “Unknown Device” turned out to be a built-in Realtek Card Reader. Unbelievably simple solution! Thanks again for posting.

I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 560 pre installed with windows 7 64 bit, and tried adding my new Epson SX215 all in one printer (USB connection only), everytime I plug it in I get the Code 43 error and Windows will not recognise it as a printer - it appears as an unknown device under USB Controllers. So far I have tried : Updating Chipset and Bios, Reinstalling USB drivers, Clean install of windows, reinstalled printer drivers direct from Epson support all to no avail. I cannot manually add the printer as USB001 is not a listed port. I also thought it may be a conflict between the all in one card readers installed on both the PC and the printer so have tried disabling those on the PC to no effect. I have searched the internet fo

I have installed Windows 7 Enterprise Edition on several computers. Two of the computers will not activate however. When I try, I get: "A problem occurred when Windows tried to activate. Error Code 0x800705B4" The description of the error is the timeout period expired. Both computers have an active and working Internet connection. I would try phone activation, but the "See other ways to activate" option on the Active Windows dialog is disabled.

Error Code 43 when connecting a Printer

I'm using Windows 7 64 bit. Trying to install a HL-1450 Printer. Have downloaded the new Printer Driver from Brother after always deleting the existing one using the Brother uninstall utility and rebooting. Following the install instructions (several times now) as soon as I connect the USB cable, message appears to say Unrecognised Device, the Printer appears in the Device section, when I right click on it, it says there was a fault loading and classes it as an Error 43. I've had the Printer for 5 years with moderate use, it has never had a fault and worked with previous laptop running Vista 32 bit, on a USB port with the same cable I'm using now.
