Error 0xc000428 dual-booting Win 7 with Win 8.1
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
December 23, 2013
I've had this problem for some time now. Ever since I installed Windows 8.1 to a new partition to run alongside Windows 7, I've received this error when trying to boot into Windows 7 for winload.efi: Error 0xc000428, Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file.
Until encountering this issue, I didn't realize that I'd have to make a full image backup prior to installing an OS on a new partition, but this is where I stand right now. A full reformat is not really an option.
I've tried the typical bootrec commands in the command prompt, attempted startup repairs several times, getting rid of the bootmgr file followed by startup repair, several operations in Visual BCD/Dual-boot repair and Easy BCD, even replacing files in Sy

Error 800B0100 during Windows 7 Service Pack 1 KB976932 update
location:
microsoft.com - date:
February 21, 2012
I am running Windows 7 Starter 32bit on a netbook. Since 13 September 2011 the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 KB976932 update has been failing to install and gives me the error code 800B0100. When I ran the file (called Windows6.0-KB947821-v15-x86) from the
System Readiness Tool link in the Windows Update Error 800B0100 Help and Support window, it came up with a message saying that the update is not relevant to my computer. Then I ran the file from the automatic troubleshooter link (the Fix It thingy) and then
it told me it fixed two problems. However, the Windows update is still giving me the same error message. I have also tried turning off the Windows Firewall, but that did not resolve the issue, I would really appreciate some help with th

new win 7 install; sp1 not displaying in win update
location:

Hi, I'm a longtime win secrets subscriber, but never signed up for the lounge until now. This weekend I built a new computer and installed win 7 ultimate 64; unfortunately, Amazon didn't have an SP 1 version availabe. When I got the machine hooked up to the net, 122 updates showed up in windows update, but SP1 wasn't among them. Wouldn't SP1 contain the majority of these? I don't get why windows update didn't just present SP1 and then the subsequent updates afterwards.
I seem to recall that when I reinstalled XP on my current machine last year that win update showed me service packs before showing me anything else.
Anyone know why it is happening this way with win 7. Nothing else has been installed on the new box except for har

I can't get the Windows update service to start, so I can't do any updates. This is on Windows 7 with SP1.

I'm not getting any error codes, just a popup box that says that Windows update service is not running and needs to be started and that the machine may need to be restarted. I've restarted it (several times) but still no luck. I tried the FixIt and still
no luck.

Since I didn't know what to expect for the Denver freebie, thought I'd give my impressions of what and how.

You arrive 'on-time', more-or-less, doesn't matter.
Inside, lined up against the Right wall are several tables. 5 or 6 for "Registration".
1. You need your BAR-CODE on a printout, and your 'last name' w/ID. That's all that matters. Make sure your printout has a well-formed barcode.
