Win 7 Pro Sharing problems
location:
7forums.com - date:

I recently set up a network of three brand new, identical computers all running Win 7 pro. 1 computer serves as the main computer with files that are shared by one other computer.
I copied the shared folders and files from, a now unused (and disconnected) XP computer. I put these folders/files into the shared documents of the main computer. I can see and open any or all of these documents from the #2 computer, but it will not let me make changes to any of the excel or word docs. The only folder that I can open files, modify and save from Computer #2 is my Quickbooks data.
All the folders reside in the same location (shared folders) on main computer. I have checked the sharing properties, the security properties and I can not find an

location:

Hi,
I have just joined the forum in the hope that I may be able to get some help with the problem I am having.
Having trudged over various forums, the Dell and Toshiba support pages I am no further ahead.
Basically the problem is that I bought a new Dell ST2200t Touchscreen monitor- Product Support
I am trying to get the touchscreen to operate efficiently and consistently via WIn 7. I have tried two different laptops namely a Dell and a Toshiba Tecra M10. The problem is the same with both.
I have updated the driver as suggested by Dell, when I plug the screen in it is identified within the Device Manager HID tag.
I used to be able to get to the stage of touches being recognised but not in the right place on the screen so I woul

Upgraded Win 7 Pro VL to Win 7 Pro Retail validation error Not a valid key.
location:
microsoft.com - date:
February 12, 2013
Had installed Win 7 Pro VL for a project but never activated it and it is beyond the grace period. I did an upgrade to Win 7 Pro Retail but the activation still thinks the system is still VL. Here's the MGA info. This copy of Windows is not genuine. When
I try to activate with the retail key I get a key not valid after typing the third letter of the second block of the key. What is the problem and can it be resolved without a total fresh install?

Can't install itunes 64 bit on Windows 7 64 bit home premium.
location:
microsoft.com - date:

I can't install itunes 64 bit on Windows 7 64 bit home premium. Have tried all the recommended fixes to no avail (including latest version of itunes 64 bit setup
Is the windows 64 bit installer problem just a home premium issue? I read forums where users with other versions (ultimate) aren't getting this error.
Can a patch be downloaded to fix the windows installer error?
PC came with Home Premium pre-installed, so only have start up disk and not the full Windows 7 Home Premium cd to complete a full reinstall.

Windows 7 Professional vs. Home Premium
location:
7forums.com - date:

So I've done some research and kept up with all the info pouring out over the past few months and I'm trying to decide which version of Windows 7 to buy. Here are a few questions you smarties can probably answer with ease!:
1. I'm looking at getting the Full not upgrade copy of either version I end up choosing. Now upgrade copies only let you upgrade from a previous XP/Vista installation. Does the Full edition let you upgrade as well if you choose to do so instead of a clean wipe and install?
2. Home Premium vs. Professional - I know in Professional you get domain features, encryption, remote desktop. (I may really want Remote Desktop to be able to log into my machine at home from work or on the road etc, so annoying it's not included sta

Win 7 PRo 64-bit fails to backup to 4TB external drive via USB 3.0
location:
7forums.com - date:
May 28, 2013
I have three internal drives holding about 3TB of data. When I try to backup (one or all internal drives) to an External 4TB drive via USB 3.0, I get messages that says destination drive too small and the backup fails. Manufacturer (HGST) says the problem is with Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit, but I haven't found any notice on MS site. Is there any known solution?

Windows update not working in XP Mode on Win 7 Pro, 64bit
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
August 31, 2013
I installed VirtualPC+Win XP Mode yesterday and got one of my old programs working - yay.
However, I was trying to update Win XP in XP Mode but the update site only found one update which I installed. Now I can't even get the usual message stating that there are no updates
Also, Internet Explorer 6 (I think it is) crashes every time it is started.
How do I update Win XP and IE6?
Btw there is an icon in the system tray saying receiving updates but nothing happens.
Thanks in advance.
