Why Does Windows 8.1 Preview Cause Continuous Flickering When Viewing Some PBS Online Video Segments?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
July 2, 2013
I use my Surface Pro tablet to time-shift online PBS broadcast TV episodes by downloading them in full-screen mode and recording them in 1080i MPEG-4 H.264 format through a Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI converter to a
Hauppague Colossus video capture card on my Windows 7 development PC.
After upgrading the Surface Pro to Windows 8.1, I found some episodes, such as
Borgen, Series 1, Episode 7 from KCET, to be unchanged from the Windows 8 experience. However
Inspector Lewis, Series VI: Intelligent Design and
Endeavour (Pilot) episodes from PBS showed extreme continuous flickering, as demonstrated at about eight seconds into this example on
You Tube.

Searching within the app isn't a default option in Windows 8.1 Preview
location:

So far using Windows 8.1 Preview is joy to use and brings big improvements from Windows 8. I felt that Windows 8.1 should be the Windows 8. But one of the inconvenient changes in Windows 8.1 is the Search Charm. Sure the redesign and new functionality like Hero
mode is amazing, and I'm looking forward for further improvements and 3rd-party apps taking advantage of it and supporting non-US countries of Bing Search for functionalities. Unfortunately everytime I search within the foreground app, search behavior is different
from Windows 8, in a bad way, because it only defaults searching "Everywhere" instead of inside the app. Sure there is Windows Key+Q keyboard shortcut to use such functionality, but the problem is everyti

Sounds like they answered most of my issues with Windows 8:
Allows disabling of the hot spots
Allows booting to the desktop
Provides a universal search of apps, data, and control items.
I will probably stick with Classic Shell because of familiarity but will no longer be upset if it is disabled.

I tried to boot the ISO version of Windows 8.1 Preview on my Asus F5V. But shortly after the circle boot animation begun, the PC freezed for few seconds, and then turned off, without any error code. Windows 8 works fine on the machine, and I can't use
the Store install method as I use the Enterprise SKU.

Uninstall Windows 8.1 Preview and go back to Windows 8 or 7.
location:

Original title: Uninstall 8.1
I have developed an intense dislike of Windows 8.1 (Skydrive, Windows Explorer vs. File Explorer, etc.) and I want to go back to Windows 8.0. (Actually I would like to uninstall windows 8.0 completely and go back to Windows 7.)
How can I go back to Windows 8.0, or even better still, go back to Windows 7?
Thanks!
