Deleting a user account (XP Pro)
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
December 3, 2008
I added an account to my XP, and when I logged back on, I could access only the new account, and not the original account. I don't want the new account, I want to delete it. I rebooted in Safe Mode, went into the Administrator account, then went into the control panel to delete the new account, but the changes available do not include "delete". I can change the name, change the password, and change the account type, but I can't delete the account. I believe I have to delete the account in order to see my administrator account again, right?
Can somebody tell me please how to delete the darn new account?
Thanks much!

location:

November 10, 2010
I deleted a user account, and pressed "save files" (it said that it would keep all of my files in a new folder in the new user account). However, I cannot find these files anywhere, is there some way to restore them/find them? (they're important)

Deleting Cookies (XP 2003 SP2)

Having read post # 514715 I logged on to the recommended site and read the following; AnalogX CookieWall allows you to quickly and easily decide which cookies can stay on your system, and which cookies should go - once you let CookieWall know which ones are unwelcome, it does the rest. CookieWall can be configured to delete cookies as soon as they arrive, to notify you of any new ones, or just queue them up for you to check out at a later date. [CookieWall is currently only compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer or derived versions (such as NeoPlanet); Netscape support should be available in the near future.]

Deleting "hidden" Temporary Internet Files
location:
microsoft.com - date:
January 20, 2010
I have 15 gb of "hidden" Temporary Internet Files on my hard drive. I have done the standard delete files and history in the internet options form, but these files have not been deleted. When I view the Temporary Internet Files there are only a few cookies
remaining. However, when I right click on the Temporary Internet Files folder and select properties, I get 500,00+ files and 15gb. I can see the files when I run a virus scan, but I can't view or delete them. How can I get rid of these "hidden" files?

Deleting a print job
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
March 18, 2006
Irksome, to say the least. I started printing a 37-page document yesterday on my HP PSC 1410v all-in-one printer but then decided to cancel the print job. No problem--it stopped. Today I was trying to print a different document, but the one I cancelled started printing. I've done the usual: gone to Printers and Faxes, selected the printer, and again cancelled/deleted the print job. I'm informed that it's deleting, but it never does. HP Help suggests the same process. I've tried half a dozen times with no results. I've unplugged the USB connection, powered on and off several times, but the job is never gone--only the seemingly frozen "Deleting" notation.

Deleting XP partition after installing windows 7
location:

Ok so i wasnt sure if i would be really pleased with windows 7 so i decided to dual boot it with xp. I have to admit windows 7 is the perfection of windows vista.
So now i want to delete my XP partition and add that free space to my Windows 7 partition. How would i go about doing this? i am familiar with Gparted. Will windows 7 partition automatically become the main one? because i think XP is the main one right now.
Thank you for all the help in advance

Windows 7, Deleting Large files is extremely slow. (Not going to recycle bin, permanent delete)
location:
microsoft.com - date:
December 13, 2009
It is taking a huge amount of time to delete files.
The files are not going to recycle bin (I am hold shift while hitting the Delete key)
Also I have even tried shutting off the recycle bin
I have timed a few of these
Single file delete, 2.6 gb, 2 minutes 14 seconds
Single file delete, 1.9 gb, 1 minutes 44 seconds
Single file delete, 230 mb, 0 minutes 24 seconds
Most of the time the dialog window that pops up says "Calculating..."
Judging by the times, This has something to do with file size.
I get similar time when I delete from the command prompt.
Windows XP would do permanent deletes and moves (on the same drive) in a split second, especially since we are talking about one file.
I work with large image files regula

Free disk space does not increase after deleting files
location:
7forums.com - date:
September 2, 2012
Recently I made a few videos with fraps that took up around 110 gigs of space, so I decided to compress all that and upload to youtube, the amount of space the videos are taking up are now down to 70, but my free disk space hasn't increased, in fact it's decreasing as if I never deleted the videos, it isn't decreasing on it's own only if I make files, so basically it'll take up space and it just stays that way for some reason.
I've looked around the internet for a solution, I have tried:Disabling automatic backup, that didn't do anything. Scanned my computer with malwarebytes to make sure it isn't some worm, nothing found. Used disk cleanup, cleared up 900 MB but the free space still didn't change. Used CCleaner, cleared up 500 MB but the
