Windows 8 compatible defrag software for mechanical hdds?
location:

I used ultimatedefrag for windows 7 but now I don't know if there is any windows 8 compatible defrag software?
Is the built-in defrag in windows 8 good enough? I personally liked ultimatedefrag but I didn't install it to avoid any harm to the operating system.

Defrag software for server?
location:
microsoft.com - date:

Alright, I really don't like asking for help, but I'm desperate. I'm the Dir of IT for a mid-size company with around 8 Windows servers and less than 1000 computers running Windows 7. We're mostly power users around here however, I've yet to figure out
a solution to deal with fragmentation - primarily on the servers.

Ranking and reviews of free antivirus/antimalware software
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
February 2, 2013
Updated from my previous list a year ago, this list of free antivirus/antimalware software is ranked by highest to lowest user scores from various websites that compile those scores, such as cnet, softpedia, etc. Such a ranking is based on usability, since most users don’t have a way to properly test antimalware technical capability, and thus the reason for the editorial comments. The sample size for the compiled scores ranges from hundreds of users to tens of thousands. Editorial comments are from lab testing by PC Magazine, PC Advisor, PCWorld, etc. User scores and editorial comments were, for the most part, from the past year. All have automatic updates and real-time protection, unless otherwise stated. Blocking refers to real-time

Many people use free antivirus software, so I thought a review of the more popular products might be helpful. Free backup software for a WD Drive?
location:
7forums.com - date:
October 1, 2010
I got a My Passport Essential SE a few months ago and I've never got around in setting up the backup.
I just searched around and read that their smartware stuff is actually crapware.
If so, I would like to use some other backup software but I have no idea which free one is good and can provide live backup.
I will update the firmware of the drive and hide the smartware contents soon but for now, i am considering options of drive backup software.
any suggestions ?

SSD Defrag on Windows 8
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
July 3, 2012
I did a clean install of Windows 8 RP on an SSD. My understanding was that Windows 8 would recognize the SSD and disable defrag. I just went into the scheduler and discovered automatic defrag was still enabled. Had to manually delete the task.
