Control Panel/System/Advanced/User Profile Settings/Big BOO BOO!!!
location:
microsoft.com - date:

There was 2 user profiles in the box stating - 'Profiles stored on this computer' "Administrator" and "Owner". I seem to be both because I bought this computer new 5 years ago and I have always been the only user. No logging on or any of the other junk with additional
users. However, the last few years I havent been able to do things as an administrator would be able to. 'User Accounts' states that I, "Owner", still is the administator account.
Heres the problem, as in the title of this post, by accident I tried to 'Copy' the Administrator Profile to my Owner Profile. Bad mistake!!! I copied it to My Documents in Owner and "Owner" is now the only 'Profiles stored on this computer'. All my desktop
icons are gone

Here's how to create a Default Profile without using SysPrep
location:
7forums.com - date:
July 2, 2012
OS: Windows 7
I have been looking at how to create a default profile without using SysPrep. There is a lot of information on the web on how it could be done in XP by just using a "copy to" command, and how it is not possible under Windows 7. The officially supported method from Microsoft involves using SysPrep. Official method despite being too complex for most also has the added disadvantage that it is meant to be used when setting up an image for deploy. I needed a method that I could use on a PC during any stage of its life cycle (i.e. both pre-deploy and post-deploy times) without going through SysPrep.
There are several ways listed on the web on how to "fool" Windows into accepting any profile as Default. A sampli

Windows 8 new User/TEMP profile; can't log in under my own profile anymore
location:
microsoft.com - date:
March 31, 2013
Windows 8 ran updates when I restarted my computer. it took forever, then when I logged in, my start screen only had 3 boxes all other links and apps were gone also it seemed that all files on my desktop and in my Documents were missing. I eventually figured
out that I was logged on as a new user under Users/TEMP. I can use file explorer to navigate to my own user profile and then the my Documents files but don't seem to be able to log under my own user profile anymore, what happened and how can this be fixed?
When I go to settings, users, the temp user does not show up.

Windows 8 style volume control for touch screen in Windows 7
location:
7forums.com - date:
December 3, 2012
Hiya everyone, I have this tablet laptop convertible thingymadoob right, by Gigabyte, a T1125P. And I was wondering if anybody had come across a nice way to change the volume using a touch screen, I tried windows 8 for a week but it kept crashing on me so i went back to Windows 7 and no problems since, but i reallly miss that volume controller XD
If anyone has seen something similar that does this sort of thing let me know. the key reason is that when in tablet mode I have no access to physical buttons on the computer except power and a Gigabyte function button that opens the Gigabyte software..
The windows volume control in Windows 7 is hard to get spot on and takes a few goes to hit, and even then it isnt so clean at changing the volume

Windows 8 Pro: User Profile Service fail after Win Update 1/20 endless boot loop
location:
microsoft.com - date:
March 12, 2013
I am stuck in a treacherous dead-end loop of my user profile not loading.
I have activated the built in Administrator account and can load that profile, and can boot to safe mode into my account, but my primary (and only) user account only loads with a temporary account when logged in.
I have tried creating new folders with everything but the ntusers.dat files (and the rest of the essential files) and copy everything else to there. I have even created new local user accounts, which also respond the same way.
The error I keep getting when logging in (not in SAFE MODE) is as follows:
"The User Profile Service service failed to load"
All my user files are on the drive, but no mater what I cannot log into them.
Whatever this is is
