On a home network with 2 computers, only one can see the other
location:

I recently replaced one of my home computers. Both run Windows 7 Home Premium and are hard-wired to a router. A printer is also connected to the router and used by both computers. The router also connects to an Internet modem. First, I configured both machines with a homegroup, but I was annoyed by the fact that you cannot share a whole disk drive over a homegroup network. I then also configures a workgroup on both computers, and set up sharing on several disk partitions on both machines.
One computer (called Laptop) can see the whole network and I can access all shared disk partitions on the other (called Desktop, which is the new one). However, Desktop can see only itself and the printer on the network and therefore Desktop cannot access

Steps below explains how I created the image, ghosted, and casted on new 2 PCs:
1- Installed WAIK RTM for windows 7
2- Installed WAIK Supplement for Windows7--mapped a network drive for this installation
3- I ran 2 commands to copy 216 files from WAIK supplement to RTM to update with new PEtools
4-Opened WAIK; opened image file for windows 7 and created new answer file with copy profile enabled, prompt for a computer name, administrator account enabled, activate windows automatically with cscript. Than, saved this answer file.

location:

Dear Microsoft Customer Service,
I just bought One license of the OS Windows 7 Ultimate -OEM.
I have 2 PCs at home (Laptop and desktop).
I installed few months ago Windows 7 on my laptop and did the registration Online. No problem, all is working properly.
Then today I wanted to install Windows 7 on my second computer, desktop which I just boost Memory in order to make sure that it can afford the needs of Windows 7.
I then went through the installation process with my Windows 7 Ultimage DVD OEM, same one that I installed on my Laptop. The problem I have is when I do the registration online, this time it doesn't work. Message "The product key you typed cannot be used to
activate Windows on this computer."
I hope it

Windows 7 machine, fully patched, four browsers, only one can connect
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
June 7, 2013
(sorry, Windows 7, not Windows 8)
Windows 7 box, 4 web browsers:
1) Internet Explorer 10 Version 10.0.9200.16576
2) Google Chrome Version 26.0.1410.43
3) Firefox 19.0.2
4) Comodo Dragon Version 26.0.2.0 ("A faster, more secure version of Chrome")
If I attempt to load too many tabs at once, it stops working altogether. None of (1), (2) or (3) can even see Google.com. Only (4) can open any web sites, but it is absolutely fine in opening them... for a time (if I load too many tabs, it stops loading anything). The results of trying to go to http://www.google.com reports DNS-like errors:
1) Nope - "This page can't be displayed"
2) Nope - Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resolve the server's DNS

Installed Windows 8 on 2 computers and one cannot access the other
location:

Pretty Frustrating... I have never had issues networking my computers until I installed Windows 8. I installed on my 2 home computers. I am using Cisco Valet Plus as a router. My main PC network reads my laptop fine, however my laptop identifies the main
PC but when I click on that PC I get the message:
Windows cannot access\\******* Check spelling of the name (it is correct). To try to identify and resolve network problems click diagnose (I have done that numerous times to no avail).
Both computers have the same network passcode. I have tried to unjoin and rejoin on both and that does not fix it either. I have no idea what to try next.
I have given permissions on both computers to each other as well. I do have a Window

Windows 8. Am I the only one that thinks that it's stupid?
location:

I don't like Windows 8.
Why?
My friend has a new computer with Windows 8, this what I didn't like about it
>> It's hard to navigate.
>> When trying to find Bluetooth, I searched the UI, and could not for the life of me.
>> Speaking of UI, it sucks, I don't like navigating through so much stuff, trying to find where I put the music I Bluetoothed from my cell phone.
>> Isn't good for gaming.
>> I think that they rushed the release
>> There's no longer a start orb.
>> People who are used to Windows 95 to Windows 7 will be peed-off that the layout is not what they're used to.
>> There is no longer transparent windows, making it look worse with the "blocky" windows.

Windows 7 Hard drive failure - Only Boots in Safe Mode
location:

Hello all,
After trying to scan my computer with tdskiller (I believe its called) to remove some viruses, I was asked to reboot. When I did, my backround desktop picture turned black, files seemed to be missing from my desktop and a window poped up scanning and telling me how many errors I had. Shortly after I got about 20 error pop up messages. I rebooted my computer and more files were missing to the point all I had was recycle bin, and two other programs.
Now the computer runs only in safe mode, No matter what I do (pressing f8 - start in normal mode) nothing works. I cant get internet access, and worst of all, I cant even system restore or even recover it back to to the malfunctioners option due to errors. I am stuck and do not kno

Sharing Printers between Windows 7 and XP computers
location:
microsoft.com - date:
November 9, 2009
Since installing Windows 7 I can not print to printers attached to Windows XP computers nor can they print a printer that is attached to my computer. Since they are not running Windows 7, yet, they can not access the HomeGroup. By connecting to the Workgroup
that was set up under Windows XP we can share files but not print.
When I try to add the printer I get an error message saying that the driver for the printer on the Windows XP machine is not installed. If I try to install the Windows XP driver for the printer manually, Windows 7 says it is not the correct driver. The reverse
is true if I try to add the Windows 7 driver for the printer in the Windows 7 machine on the XP machine.
The temporary workaround has been to pass the fi
