Cannot access bios after SSD upgrade
location:

Hi everyone, I recently purchased SSD drive and started installing windows on it. And thats where the problems began:
-only keyboard worked on the installation
-when windows started, mouse not working(tried ps2 also)
-when shutting down, got blue screen saying about "bugcode usb"
after that few reinstall tries, no help.
One thing that I forgot/didn't know was some achi mode which had to be enabled in bios.
Well now I cannot do anything because my ps2 keyboard wont work in bios.
Tried search but found nothing useful. What should I do? Will I need to buy new motherboard to get SSD working? current version is GIGABYTE GA-MA78G-DS3H, I contacted technical support and they said to enable achi, and install some updates on wi

After upgrade, cannot access BIOS or boot menu
location:
8forums.com - date:
November 13, 2012
My Acer Extensa 5620Z originally came with Vista, then I clean installed Win 7, now upgraded to Win 8. Since the latest upgrade, I am unable to access BIOS or the boot menu. The black and white boot screen used to say to press F12 for boot menu, and something else for Setup, those messages are no longer there. And those key combinations do not work. I've also tried some other combinations I've found in searches - F2, Alt-F10, ctrl F10, alt ctrl F10, F8, del, esc. None work.
Could the upgrade has modified the firmware somehow? Boot screen says Phoenix bios, TrustedCore v1.32 - I think that is the same it has been.
Thanks

windows 7 will not reinstall from disk as I cannot access BIOS

Firstly, I am not at all techie so pls bear with me if I ask some stupid questions.
I got hit by some Malware on Wed afternoon. I shut down Inernet Explorer immediately and disconnected from internet (wifi). From previous experience, decided I shd back up my photos and spreadsheets to a CD and then reinstall the Windows 7 OS to overwrite
any problems. I have to admit I was so fed up that I stuck the OS disk in and left the room so it may have defaulted in unhelpful ways.
When I went back into computer, initial boot up screen shows two Windows 7 options. My C drive (recovery) has totally filled up although there is nothing in there belonging to me (ie all "system" stuff). This means that I could not

Can't Access BIOS After re-install
location:
7forums.com - date:

A few months back I needed to re-install the OS on my Acer laptop (specs in my system specs tab below), Acer has a partition on the hard drive with the OS in it (they don't give you a CD with the computer). Anyway, after the install everything works great. Yesterday I wanted to go into the set-up screen (BIOS) but now it asks for a password. Since I never set one up why does it ask for it now??? Is there a way to reset this password?

Limited Internet access after router upgrade

I have a (possibly) related problem - I run IE7 on a Vista machine, and recently updated the firnware in my router/gateway - suggested by the manufacturer's support staff.
Since then, I can not download my e-mail from within Thunderbird, even though I can deal with them on web-based mail which supposedly logs in via IE!
I can use Google to search, but the results will not link to their site.
This happens in both IE and Firefox.
I have tried (risky) disabling the firewall in the router and the PC Tools Firewall Plus - no change.
System restore had no effect nor did booting into 'last known good'.
Has anyone come across th

I purchased a Compaq Presario X1000 laptop from Goodwill Industries. It has Windows XP Pro installed and is secured by an unknown Administrator Password. When I try to access System BIOS at startup, it asks for the administrator password and denies access. How
can I remove this password and get to the BIOS settings? Everything I have tried so far has failed. Please advise.

BIOS: Can access BIOS utility, but cannot change settings.
location:
7forums.com - date:
September 2, 2012
Hello:
This is my first post here, so hi to everyone.
I just got an ASUS X401a Notebook and I want to use a flash drive to boot from Linux.
I need to change the sequence in the BIOS so that the flash drive is first choice to boot from.
I have no problem accessing the BIOS utility, but it allows me to alter only some settings. Those in blue colored font I can change those in black font I cannot. What drive to boot from first is in black and not adjustable.
I used command line to work as admin and I also set up a password for admin in the BIOS to access the BIOS utility, but still no go; some things are allowed to be changed some aren't.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi
I have Toshiba Satellite A505 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Original
And am using truecrypt to encrypt the system (it was working fine for few weeks)
my system was running fine untill i got BSOD with Error: BAD_POOL_CALLER
and upon reboot i ended up with a frozen boot screen with no access to the bios or any of the possible boot devices.
i couldn't go beyond the initial logo screen, pressing F2 (to go into the bios options) did not work. the only keys that worked were ctrl-alt-del to reboot the hardware which would again bring me back to the same screen. i could not even open the cd player in order to try booting the truecrypt repair disk. everything was frozen !
anyway after trying many things i find out that the problem
