Windows 8 Media Center Pack Free Upgrade

I got the free license key for Windows 8 Media Center Pack. I know this key expires on
January 31, 2013. How exactly does this key work?
I've installed it and it works fine.
What happens if I do a format after January 31st? Is it gone for good? Is it linked to my original Windows 8 key?
Not quite sure how this works, and am interested in whether or not I will lose this if I do a format after Feb 2013.

Hi there,
I'm a little confused about the Media Center pack product key. After using the key I received, in Windows Activation it is now listed as my product key for Windows, rather than the one I used before to install Windows 8 Pro. So, my question is simple: if were
to have to reinstall Windows 8 from the DVD in future, would I use the Media Center pack key or the original Windows 8 Pro key, and if I used the original key, would I then be able to reuse the Media Center key with it again? In other words, does the activation
limit of before January 31st only mean it has to be used once before then to remain valid, or after this date it can't be re-activated in future?

Please help me through this problem.i upgraded to windows 8 trough my windows 7 PC.When i purchased it from the shop and tested it i found that it worked well and when i activated it by giving the product key,it got activated.After a few days i got a key
from windows website when i tried to upgrade to media center,i got the key,I Followed the instructions when pasted the key it writes your key works continue when ready.When i click next it says activate windows.But i had already did it and Computer says its
activated i want windows media center.please help me.Thank You.
