Win8 PC Hanging When Use Media Center or Zune
location:
8forums.com - date:
November 7, 2012
Hello,
I just recently performed a Clean install of Windows 8 Pro on my older HP a1210n. I also added a nvidia gt520 graphics card shortly after installing windows 8.
Everything was running great, no issues until I downloaded Zune (Use for Windows Phone 7). Shortly after launching Zune and navigating through screens the PC just froze (no messages, no errors). My only option was a hard boot. No messages or errors on re-boot. I tried uninstalling Zune and reinstalling and the same thing happened. Also, it was random when occurred. I also ended up doing a new Install of Windows 8 since I had added my video card after installing Windows 8. At this point, it seemed to be a fix, no crashes.
I then installed Media Center and

BSOD when the PC has been in sleep mode
location:

Hi
I have installed a clean copy of Windows 8 x64 Pro today and I have found that each time the PC goes into sleep mode it will cause a BSOD when awakened and thus restart the machine.
I have included a copy of the dump files ceated by the tool SF_Diagnostic_Tool in the hope that will help.
Thanks for any advice.

I've gotten several BSOD crashes when my computer is not in use. Yesterday, it happened for the first time when I was using it, so I was able to see the error message on the BSOD: CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED. I uploaded the zip file below. Thanks.

How to prevent BSOD on new Windows 8 PC?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
February 25, 2013
I am repeatedly getting the BSOD on my new Windows 8 PC.
I purchased the PC about 4 weeks ago, and all was fine until last week when the light blue screen with "Your PC has ran into a problem and needs to restart" began to appear. It is now occurring with annoying regularity, and I would like to resolve this issue.
I have uploaded the minidump files to
https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=EFBEB3C3D7DE45C7
The bugcheck code always seems to start with 0x0000003b
The problem reporting feature in windows has not given any useful information, and when I select "View Solution" the same message comes back saying the the solution can not be downloaded at the current time.
Any help much appreciated,
Thanks,
John.

So far I've got:
System-wide spellcheck (and maybe grammar check), or at least in IE
IE Favourites sync, which needs to be in IE9 to be useful
Home Premium upgrade version is less than $100, other versions in similar range
In Enterprise version, allow for disabling of Metro Start
Remove the registry, at least in the ARM version. It's a chunk of legacy code that simply has bad juju
Blu-ray support, weather built in or as a $20-40 online purchase directly from Microsoft
Built in basic capabilities, such as a PDF viewer
Improved file extractor, with support for formats other than .zip
Bundle Office Starter Edition with the OS, not require manufacturers to bundle. May have to include an easy install method for al

No sound when waking PC from sleep.
location:
7forums.com - date:
August 27, 2012
I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I just recently decided to start trying to put my PC to sleep rather than just let it run constantly when I'm not using it, and found that when I resume it, even if it's IMMEDIATELY after putting it to sleep, there is no sound.
The only "fix" I've found is to either reboot, or (the quicker method) is to disable and enable the sound card in device manager. Sound then immediately returns.
Obviously this is far from ideal and I'd love for it to just function properly. Any ideas? My sound is onboard Realtek HD audio on a Biostar A770E3 motherboard.
Thanks everyone.

Windows 8 Pro Full retail box or digital download any time soon?
location:
microsoft.com - date:
October 27, 2012
As I can see right now there are 3 ways to buy Windows 8:
Windows 8 Upgrade from previous system.OEM version (System Builder)Enterprise version (no use for home user)
But where are retail boxes or at least digital download of full version to perform a clean install? I was waiting for Win 8 to be released to perform some hardware upgrades including system hard drive. That’s mean upgrade option is no good for me because
it’s forcing me to perform an installation of Win 7 before Win 8 and since it’s ridiculous I’m not going to do this.
OEM version is no good for me as well since I'm planning to upgrade my CPU and MB next year and don't want to buy Windows 8 again.
I was hoping to just buy a new Win 8 box and
