Blue screen on start up after trying to enable hibernate on
location:
7forums.com - date:
February 15, 2013
Hi all,
Today, I googled on how to enable hibernate on Windows 7 and I read the article in the following link: Hibernate - Enable or Disable
I tried the third option, which is changing the value in the registry of the windows. After changing the value, I restarted the computer, which is what I was asked. While I was expecting to see the hibernate option enabled, I ended up with the blue screen. After the windows logo on the start up, blue screen shows up on the screen with dumping the memory. Now, I don't know how I can revert this back. Ok, I don't want hibernate enable anymore but at least I need my windows back. Could you please guide me on this?
Thanks,

Windows 8.1 blank screen on start-up after installing KB2883200
location:
microsoft.com - date:
October 22, 2013
Every time I install KB2883200, my HP EliteBook 8460p running Windows 8.1, the PC won't startup after shutdown. After the BIOS screen is displayed, all I see is a blank black screen. There is no mouse cursor, and I can't boot into safe mode. I've used
my Windows 8.1 install disc to restore to a point prior to the install of KB2883200 four times in narrowing it down to KB2883200 being the cause. This update came out Thursday 10/17/2013, which is the same day as the launch of Windows 8.1. I've been running
the release bits from MSDN for a few weeks. Other people appear to be having this blank screen issue, but they are all updating from 8 to 8.1, and they can see a mouse cursor.

Black screen on start up after windows 8.1 upgrade
location:
8forums.com - date:
January 13, 2014
Hi there, I'm new to the forum so i hope this thread is where it should be. I believe this might be a BSOD issue but yet again I'm not computer wiz.
I've just upgraded from windows 8 to windows 8.1, via the Windows Store. Prior to upgrade i had no issues whatsoever with the windows 8, before the upgrade i ran the Windows 8.1 Upgrade Assistant. And found only 3 softwares to have conflict with the upgrade, these 3 are as followed: Apple QuickTime, iTunes and Bitdefender Total Security - Version 17.15.0.68. I uninstalled both of the apple software's and upgraded the Bitdefender to a version compatible with Windows 8.1.
I had no issues with the download & installation of windows 8.1, however the instant between windows l

Windows XP Blue Screen of Death after upgrading RAM
location:
microsoft.com - date:
January 2, 2013
Hi All,
I have recently upgraded my PC with 4GB RAM (Previously it was 1GB only). For first few days the system worked perfectly, but now performance of my PC is very slow and I am frequently getting Blue Screen of Death Error. My PC's Configuration is as below:
OS: Windows XP SP2
Processor: Intel Dual Core 2.8GHz
RAM: 4GB (Transcend DDR2) - I have removed 1GB RAM and replaced it with two 2GB RAMs.
Hard-disk: 160GB
Moreover, on the same system, I have one more hard-disk of 500GB on which I have installed Windows 2003 Server Edition. There is no problem on Windows 2003 server and it utilizes complete 4GB of RAM.
Kindly help me to resolve the Windows XP issue.
Thanks.

Unable to start up after virus problem; Startup Repair keeps going
location:
7forums.com - date:
December 10, 2011
Short version: I'm having problems starting up after a virus problem. I booted up into Startup Repair, and it's been "Attempting Repairs" for a couple hours now. What next?
I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on a MacPro through Bootcamp. Backstory: I had been having problems with a virus that was occasionally redirecting Firefox to commercial sites. On a couple occasions I got popups trying to sell "Win 7 Security" or something bogus. (I did not try to install or register it, obviously.) I ran several different anti-virus programs, including AVG and MSE, but none seemed to stop the re-direction problem.
This morning I got another one of the bogus popups, and it was particularly assertive this time. M

System won't start up after update
location:
7forums.com - date:
May 16, 2012
I had over 25 updates to download and install because I didn't do it straight away knowing it would prompt me to shut my computer down every 4 hours - which I cant stand.
After about a week of getting annoyed with the "updates available" icon and text box which pops up, I decided to download the updates, but was not ready to restart the computer.

Laptop won't start up after deleting Ubuntu partition
location:
7forums.com - date:
January 10, 2012
So I was running Ubuntu and Windows 7 on my laptop on a 64 gb SSD and I decided that I no longer wanted to have Ubuntu taking up valuable space. I look around and it seemed like all I had to do was delete the partition that Ubuntu was taking up, which was close to 20GB. I did that, then I tried to combine the main partition and the previously ubuntu partition but it was separate volumes so I had no luck. I shut it down and when I tried to restart it, the screen is black with one line which reads, "grub recovery>" So again I've looked around but haven't found anything reliable to do. I thought this would be a good place to look. Any suggestions?
