BIOS boot priority / windows loading off different drive
location:

hey guys,
following on from my other thread, Re-install windows 8 w/ new motherboard and CPU
i ended up managed to be able to boot into windows after i swapped out my motherboard and CPU to the new ones and everything seems to be working as it should, windows automatically installed the intel drivers and all my old programs and settings are there perfectly.
interesting thing is, that i can only boot into windows if i select my backup drive as #1 boot device in the BIOS, the SSD isnt even on the list.
the thing i don't understand lies in that, if i select my SSD as priority, where the directory of windows is installed, i get a bootmgr missing error - i've tried the various methods of recovering this using the cmd and a windows

Bios boot priority setting
location:
winsecrets.com - date:
August 15, 2011
I have been experiencing problems with my Windows 7 installation recently. However all the remedies I have prepared in the past on CDs viz WindowsRrepair, System Images, boot filed etc against such a contingency have proved useless because I cannot get the Bios boot priority sequence to recognise booting from the CD as opposed, as normally, from the hard drive. I hasten to add that I have selected the F10 key to save the changed setting but although the cd drive light flickers momentarily there is no continuing activity in this drive, nor any screen promppt to select any key to confirm changed boot sequence..
Any suggestions forrenedy this would be welcome.

Forgive me if I posted in the wrong section, I wasn't sure if the "Crash" section was the right place. Here is what I posted on microsoft and no one has helped me there.
Hi all,
My laptop suddenly turned off because the battery was drained and I didn't have the power hooked up. Upon restarting windows, I got this message screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/RH3WP.jpg
so I clicked on the troubleshoot option and selected "Automatic repair" and then got this message screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/GoBqq.jpg
I went back to the main screen and just shut my laptop down again, only to be met with the same "trouble shooting" screen. I then tried to do the "disc image" option and got this

Windows 7 checking for drive errors on Boot
location:
7forums.com - date:

The last couple of times I've booted up Windows 7, prior to launching the OS, It has felt the need to perform some sort of drive error checking task, and as far as I know, I haven't scheduled any 'checking for errors' type-tasks for my hard drive.
What's going on?
Thanks in advanced.

Clean Personal Info Off Hard Drive (Windows XP)
location:

I'm ready to get rid of an old computer, but I need to be sure I don't leave any personal information on it. Is it enough to reformat the drive?
If so, how do I do it?
Do I dare to remove the old drive and use it for backup? It's a 2003 and has been used a lot.
