My copy of Win 7 keeps asking for validation, despite coming with all the usual official stickers having passed validation many times already.

As discussed on Twitter today, I have a fairly new copy of Windows 7 which refuses to stay validated. I activated it successfully when i bought it in June. I have done so several times since. But every so often i am asked to do so again. Recently I have
been getting error messages saying that the validation system is offline, so I am unable to re-validate it. As a consequence the rude messages demanding that I buy a new copy of Windows and threatening to disable parts of my system are ramping up.
Having talked to one of your support staff on Twitter, I downloaded MGA Diagnostic Tool. I have the following results:

These weird small boxes seem to replace the buttons on my win8 touch keyboard and in some metro apps like store app. The left and right buttons are now empty:

Usually these appear when the required font is not installed in the computer
Has this anything to do with it?

Windows 8 Release Preview doesn't boot on Pentium 4 and doesn't run Metro apps on AMD64
location:
microsoft.com - date:

I tried to install Windows 8 RP on an old Pentium 4 (x86 3GHz). If I run the installer from Windows 7 it says that my CPU isn't supported.
So I tried booting from DVD. It shows a "Windows®" logo and then some error codes saying that my PC needs to restart and I have to hold down Power button.
I also tried extracting the installed from sources\boot.wim with 7-Zip:
it installs and restarts with the old CP "betta" logo, but on the second restart
it shows the RP "Windows®" logo and error codes. It reverted Windows 7.
I tried installing Windows 8 RP (x32) on a laptop with an old AMD64 CPU. This laptop has a broken Hard Drive, so I tried installing to an external USB one. Windows Setup says that USB isn't supported, so I used my other P

Windows 8 Metro Apps (Like Windows Store) get stuck on splash screen
location:

Hello.
when I just installed windows 8, I could run the Windows Store, Bing search and more.
now, when I run metro apps, the Logo moves from the center to the top left corner. have these "dots of loading" moving. but nothing happens.
after installing windows 8. and saw that this worked. I installed Kaspersky 2013 internet security, installed Visual Studio 2012 express. and changed the Windows Language appearance from Hebrew to English.
I don't know from what point it stopped working.
My screen resolution is 1050x1680. I tried using a local account. a live account. tried to "Refresh" - that didn't work at all. at the beginning it asks me to put media with the windows 8 installation or a recovery disc. I tried

Windows 8 -- Here's a Trick to disable the HORRIBLE metro apps GUI !!!
location:
7forums.com - date:

Hi all
I've just been playing with the developer edition of W8 download link in the news section of the Forum.
if you are like me and HATE those horrible square tacky icons that make this OS look more like a mobile phone than a desktop / workstation OS then this neat little trick gets back to the more "Claassical UI" windows look.
Once I've disabled the Metro UI I actually quite like W8 and it seems snappy enough on my system even as a VM.
To disable the Metro UI and keep the ribbon, etc, simply rename c:\windows\system32\shsxs.dll to something else and reboot.
This might only work for the current developer build but it suits me for the moment.
I always prefer totally uncluttered desktops with the minimal information on them

Metro Apps not working
location:
8forums.com - date:
September 1, 2012
Hello All,
I am having somewhat of an odd issue. When I launch a Metro app, it will show the 'app start screen' but then immediately close. It would appear that the process is still running because I can see it, and others attempted, in the running Metro apps area (top left, mouse down). I recently completely disabled UAC but then re-enabled it to get them to work. I now know that it is not a UAC issue because I have seen the error about it not being enabled. I do believe however, that disabling may have started this issue.
Any tips?
Thanks in advance!

Certain Metro Apps Not Working
location:
8forums.com - date:

Hi, I have a problem here...
I upgrade my Win7 to Windows 8 Pro and later to Windows 8 Pro with WMC (using the free key that Microsoft gave). Later I realized that few of my Metro Apps not working especially News, Sport, and Weather. From what I read, this usually caused by the antivirus. But strangely, when I check the other account, that apps are fine, so I think its not the problem.
I even create a new account, and found that those apps were fine. I've using my current account for a long time so it had been so customized, and the data had growing so many and big (more than 13 GB when I check), so I don't want to abandon, moreover delete it. I have tried to create a new account, use the WET (Windows Easy Transfer) to transfer my

Why Doesn't Windows 8 Allow Metro Apps on Low Res?
location:

I was wondering: Why doesn't Windows 8 allow you to use Metro UI apps with a resolution lower than 1024x768? I have a netbook with 1024x600 and I don't know what the difference would be.

Metro-Apps no longer function. Store Apps install not possible.
location:

After relocating c:\users\<username> to D:\Users\<username> APPS no longer work, Store-App, Internet Explorer app all fail.
This WAS attached to another thread but it got separated & moved here... Poorly re-titled to boot.
I started with Win-7/64 Pro, running on a SATA-II 640gb HDD (SATA-Port-3), second drive a SATA-II 340gb (SATA-Port-4).
I made several backups & copies (can never be too careful)
Used a Full Version of Win-8/64 Pro and launched it from Win-7 to perform an upgrade.
Painfully slow but worked a treat and all my data, apps everything transferred just peachy. (Thank goodness as a Dev, I have GIT, Various compilers and tools which is a phenomenal PITA to have to reinstall, close to 2 days to redo all of
